- Alford Elementary offered enrichment opportunities, such as After School, Saturday Extended Learning, and the Right at School after-school program.
- Parents participated in fun and engaging evening events to support student learning which included Literacy Night, Math Night, and International Night. Students participated in Career Day and learned about various occupations/professions to enhance their future readiness skills.
- Chorus Students were invited to sing the National Anthem at the Gwinnett Stripers Game which also supported our goal of increased community involvement.
- Students had the opportunity to participate in various extra-curricular activities particularly student clubs to enhance their skill set and sense of belonging. Such clubs offered during the year included the Alford Chorus, Art Club, Athletics Club, Robotics, Readers' Rally, Garden Club, and the Tear It Up Titans Step Team.
- We increased a sense of belonging with our school community through the ongoing celebratory activities such as Black History, Hispanic Heritage, Ramadan, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage, and Women’s History Month.
- Teachers collaborated and planned on the local school leadership literacy, math, science, and social studies teams to share and model best practices for their colleagues in order to make certain that quality and rigorous instruction was being delivered in all classrooms.
- Alford hosted many parent workshops facilitated by teachers and support staff to enhance the capacity of the families. These workshops focused on the two main components for the GCPS Blueprint: Academic Press and Supportive Community.
- Alford implemented the SEA Program (Summer Enrichment and Acceleration) as an additional learning opportunity to prepare students for the upcoming school year.
- Alford celebrated the achievements of teacher leaders that participated in the Teachers As Leaders Program, Aspiring Leaders Program, and Mentor Gwinnett as well as for those that earned Gifted and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) endorsements.
- Our Play 2 Learn program highlighted and showcased our offerings to support neighborhood families and provide them with educational tools and awareness for their preschool-aged children to support and ensure school readiness.
