  • Alford Elementary offered enrichment opportunities, such as After School, and the Right at School after-school program.
  • Parents participated in fun and engaging evening events to support student learning which included Literacy Night, Math Night, and International Night. Students participated in Career Day and learned about various occupations/professions to enhance their future readiness skills.
  • Chorus students were invited to sing the National Anthem at the Gwinnett Stripers Game which also supported our goal of increased community involvement.
  • Students had the opportunity to participate in various extra-curricular activities particularly student clubs to enhance their skill set and sense of belonging. Such clubs offered during the year included the Alford Chorus, Art Club, Athletics Club, Robotics, Readers' Rally, and Garden Club.
  • English Classes were offered to Alford Families by our Parent Liaison with a graduation ceremony at the end of the school year recognizing their successful completion of the program.
  • Alford teachers had the opportunity to enhance their learning to increase participation in the WIDA English Language Development Standard Framework and differentiated ML professional learning activities.
  • Alford Families were invited to help celebrate students for the all A’s and Perfect Attendance breakfast award ceremony.    
  • Alford teachers served as county facilitators at Summer Literacy Academy, Math Summer Institute, and Science Summer Institute.
  • Alford served as a model school for both Collaborative Learning Team meetings and Skills Block. Other elementary schools visited and observed our teachers and students working and collaborating diligently.
  • Alford teachers were invited to present EL strategies to professional groups including Literacy Leadership Team and Instructional Coaching Crew.
  • Alford teachers and administrators successfully completed House Bill 538 requirements, including the completion of the Savannah Dyslexia Orton Gillingham Courses and the Georgia Literacy Academy modules.
