  • Baggett Elementary was awarded a matching grant through the Georgia Council for the Arts to support a partnership with the Alliance Theatre whereby each Kindergarten through 2nd grade classroom welcomed in a teaching artist 10 times over the course of the school year to further integrate the arts into classroom instruction.
  • Baggett was named a PBIS Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education.
  • Baggett Elementary expanded its athletic extra-curricular activities by offering volleyball, soccer, and t-ball in addition to basketball, cheerleading, and a dance/step team.
  • Baggett Elementary expanded partnerships with other Gwinnett County Public Schools including:
    • Gwinnett School of Mathematics Science and Technology who provides interns to support our arts and science specials and related extracurricular activities including our school musical and robotics teams.
    • Discovery High School who provides peer leaders, soccer coaches, and theatre partners.
    • McClure Health Science Health Science High School who provides interns for the school clinic.
  • Baggett Elementary served as the site for Green and Healthy Schools' Fall Kick-off and professional learning educator event, thereby growing this established partnership that includes the Compost Connector Grant.
  • Baggett Elementary welcomed representatives from Cox Enterprises, the benefactor behind Captain Planet, to join students in harvesting vegetables from the school's garden. Volunteers and students then prepared and enjoyed a salad by using the grant-funded Mobile Kitchen Cart.
  • Baggett Elementary School expanded the impact of our Small Fry to Go Program supported through the Gold (Georgia Outdoor Learning Demonstration) Grant by engaging all 4th graders (1st semester) and all 2nd graders (2nd semester) in the successful caring of 2,000 trout from the egg stage to the small fry trout stage before releasing them into the Chattahoochee River.
  • Through multiple grants and district support, Baggett Elementary School grew the Outdoor Learning Program by welcoming 4 hens and a new chicken coop to the school's campus. This resource supports the Food Waste Warriors program and our grade level project-based learning activities.
  • 3rd-5th grade students at Baggett Elementary had an opportunity to participate in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics) musical, Bots, which was performed in partnership with Discovery High School and Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology.
  • To close out the school year, Baggett Elementary was awarded a $50,000 grant through the College Football Hall of Fame to create a dedicated Makerspace in the media center to support additional STEAM activities.
  • Baggett Elementary School is on the path to STEAM certification.
