  • Chesney Elementary School is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-focused school. All students engage in rigorous problem and project-based learning experiences, using their knowledge and research to solve real-world problems through the lens of STEM.
  • Chesney Elementary School offers students diverse extracurricular and club activities, including coding, art, STEM, cooking, cheerleading and dance, gardening, gaming, and intramural sports. More than 65% of students participate in at least one activity, all designed to help students "learn and lead like champions."
  • Chesney Elementary School boasts an award-winning Robotics Team. The team has previously won the Best Robot Design Award, with students engaging in the engineering and design process to create state-of-the-art robots that maneuver and accomplish missions during competitions.
  • Chesney Elementary School is a state-recognized Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) School. Its PBIS implementation cultivates leaders and learners who are "Respectful, Responsible, and Ready." Students demonstrating these "three Rs" receive "Sparky Bucks" for positive behaviors and are recognized at quarterly PBIS events.
  • Chesney Elementary School focuses on the "Whole Child" through the tenets of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Students learn to regulate emotions using zones of regulation and practice mindfulness with breathing techniques. Every classroom features a calm-down corner or "chill zone" for students to re-center and return to learning. Additionally, morning meetings are held daily to connect and check in with every student.
  • Chesney Elementary School is a Trauma-Sensitive School. While prioritizing the "Whole Child," Chesney fosters a culture where all students feel safe, welcomed, and supported, with addressing trauma's impact on learning being central to its educational mission.
  • Chesney Elementary School provides rigorous academic opportunities through courses such as Math Enrichment, Reading Enrichment, and Advanced Content. These courses challenge students to employ creative and critical thinking skills, and many participants are subsequently referred and evaluated for the gifted and talented program.
  • Chesney Elementary School features a state-of-the-art music program. Its instrument repertoire mirrors that of a high school, including acoustic guitars, electric guitars, keyboards, pianos, drums, bongos, and a concert-ready sound system. The music program develops and showcases students' voices and musical talents throughout the school year.
  • Chesney Elementary School ensures every student engages in programming during their STEM Special Area course. Students use Scratch Jr., Scratch, and Lego Education to develop programming languages, allowing them to design interactive stories and games.
  • Chesney Elementary School goes to great lengths to establish a supportive community for students and parents. Fun and engaging academic nights and Principal's Story Time are regularly held for students. To ensure a strong school-to-home partnership, events such as Bring Your Parents to School Day, Principal Town Hall Meetings, Mother-Son and Father-Daughter Dances, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Parent English classes are hosted for families.
