School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Cooper Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Through a partnership with Builder's Insurance, Cooper ES has added a playground that is not just for some but for all. Specifically designed for students with mobility, sensory, communication, and cognitive delays, this multi-sensory playground ensures that Each & Every student has the opportunity to play and have fun.
- Cooper ES began a Theater Arts Club and completed a fall semester performance and a spring semester performance. Over 90 students served as actors, chorus members, and backstage assistants.
- Cooper ES completed its first year of fully implementing our Positive Behavior Support and Intervention program with the successful roll-out of the Tiger Buck system and Tiger Store.
- The Tiger Bots, Cooper Elementary School's First Lego League Team, have shown us what determination and teamwork can achieve. They won the Robot Design Award at the Grayson Regional Tournament, secured a spot at the super-regional tournament, and won 2nd place for their Innovation Project at the state tournament at UGA. Their success inspires us all.
- Cooper Elementary School added five additional special education programs during the 2023-2024 school year, serving children in our community through one of the Autism Spectrum Disorder classes or Special Needs Pre-K programs.
- Our local PTA chapter provided the school with over $10,000 in grants for materials and supplies to enhance the overall school experience for our students and their families.
- Cooper's Business Partnership Program, a testament to our community's support, has continued to grow. We've added several local businesses and our long-standing partners continue to stand by us, making us all proud of our collective efforts.
- Cooper Elementary began recognizing students exhibiting one of the five TIGER Traits in monthly assemblies, during which parents and extended family members celebrated their recognition.
- The Tiger Talk program was initiated, and parents were invited to have focused and candid discussions with the principal monthly. From these discussions, the school made mid-course adjustments better to meet the needs of our students and community.
- Formerly known as International Night, Cooper's Culture Fest allowed students and community members to learn about people and countries worldwide by sampling food, watching traditional dances and song performances, and speaking with those representing their family's culture.
