- Craig Elementary School has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious honor is awarded to schools for overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Craig Elementary earned this distinction as an Exemplary High Performing School, placing it among the top-performing schools in the nation. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the unwavering support of our families and community.
- Craig Elementary School has been honored with the 2024 Silver Award for Highest Academic Performance by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. This award recognizes schools that have demonstrated consistent academic excellence, maintaining overall student achievement in the top 5% of schools statewide for the past three consecutive years. This distinction reflects the dedication of our students, the commitment of our teachers, and the ongoing partnership with our families and community.
- Craig Elementary School has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education and the State School Superintendent as a recipient of the Georgia’s Masters of Mathematics Award. This honor celebrates schools that have demonstrated exceptional growth in mathematics achievement by our 5th grade students on the Georgia Milestones assessment.
- Craig Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibited appropriate school conduct.
- Craig Elementary School was recognized by Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for implementing its “No Place for Hate” program. No Place for Hate encourages stakeholders to play an active role in combating bias and bullying as a means to stop the escalation of hate.
- Craig Elementary School’s PTA was honored with multiple awards this year by the Georgia PTA, reflecting the strength of our school community and commitment to family engagement. Craig received the District 12 Award for Highest PTA Membership, recognizing outstanding participation among our families. Our school also earned the prestigious Oak Award for achieving 100% staff membership, demonstrating full support from our faculty and staff. In addition, Principal Angie Wright was named PTA Principal of the Year, a testament to her leadership and dedication to fostering a strong school-family partnership.
- Craig Elementary School has Peer Leaders. It includes 20 of our 5th grade students who served our younger students and school and coordinated various service projects including Great Days of Service, United Way, and Bus Driver Appreciation Day.
- Craig Elementary has a strong commitment to developing students' entrepreneurship skills. Students in grades 3-5 participate in a school-wide entrepreneurship program.
- Craig Elementary takes enormous pride in being a school that values all stakeholders. Our Cultural evening drew in over 1,000 participants to celebrate the many cultures of Craig Elementary.
- Craig Elementary was a grant recipient from the Brookwood Schools Foundation for $5,000 to support school improvement efforts. We used the funds to complete building enhancements and campus beautification projects designed to create a more welcoming, student-centered environment. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all students feel valued and inspired to learn.
