School Highlights

The following school highlights showcase how Duncan Creek Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.

  • Duncan Creek Elementary offers numerous clubs for students to engage in extracurricular activities. These clubs include the FLL Robotics Team, Kindness Club, Running Club, Art Club, Tumbling Team, Singing Hawks Chorus, and Student Council. Student Council is by application and is reserved for students who exhibit strong character, leadership, and service.
  • The Georgia Department of Education recognized Duncan Creek Elementary School as Distinguished for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
  • The Duncan Creek FIRST Lego League (FLL) team competed against other elementary teams, private schools, middle schools, and community teams at the Regional and Super Regional tournaments, as well as the State tournament at the University of Georgia. The DCES FLL team advanced from the Regional tournament to the Super Regional Tournament, where they earned the First Place Champion’s Award. To earn this award, teams must score the highest in four areas: Innovation Project, Robot Design, Core Values, and Robot Performance.
  • All Duncan Creek Elementary students have the opportunity to take a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) special. In this class, students learn about and apply the engineering design cycle. In addition, all students participate in a STEM unit each semester. Many students participated in our local school's Science and Engineering Fair. Several students qualified and moved on to participate in the Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering, and Innovation Fair.
  • Duncan Creek Elementary continued our work with Stan Tucker, “Stan the Man,” to present assemblies to students as a literacy advocate and kindness ambassador. Mr. Tucker hosted a student writing competition and published the winners’ books. He supported our kindness initiative and Kindness Club.
  • To build community in the cluster and connect our students with future opportunities and mentors, Duncan Creek Elementary School celebrated the Mill Creek High School seniors with a parade through the hallways. Our first-grade students attended a Mill Creek High School play dress rehearsal. DCES teachers from each grade level participated on a STEM Vertical Team with our cluster schools. It is great to be a Mill Creek Hawk!
