School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Fort Daniel Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Fort Daniel Elementary School students engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Specials Class. During this special, the students learn about sustainability and how to care for our environment. They also learned about lifecycles by observing eggs in an incubator over several days and watching chickens hatch in the classroom.
- Fort Daniel Elementary had nearly 70 students participate in the Chorus; some went on to be selected for the Gwinnett County Honor Chorus. Our Chorus students also opened the Gwinnett Stripers Baseball Game by singing the National Anthem. They also performed Winter and Spring Musical Concerts to packed audiences of parents, community, and family members.
- Fort Daniel Elementary takes enormous pride in being a school that values all stakeholders. Our Multicultural Night drew in several parent and community participants to celebrate the many cultures of Fort Daniel Elementary. Students and families enjoyed food, music, crafts, and culture.
- Fort Daniel offers a range of enrichment activities and clubs, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Art Club, Robotics Club, Garden Club, Chorus, and Safety Patrol. Our school also has Peer Leaders, including our Fifth-Grade students who served our younger students and coordinated various service projects, including Great Days of Service and Community Donation Drives.
- Community partnerships are vital to Fort Daniel Elementary's success. This year, we partnered with several local community groups, including churches, the local library, and neighborhood outreach groups. These partners supported teacher recognition and school beautification projects.
- Fort Daniel Elementary students participated in our local school Science Fair Competition, and winners went on to compete in the GCPS Regional Science, Engineering, and Innovation Fair. Also, our Lego League Robotics Team won the Overall Championship Award at the Regional Competition in December.
- Fort Daniel Elementary has a robust PTA with a goal of 100% Participation for families and staff. This year, the PTA donated funds to increase resources for students in the classroom and teacher appreciation initiatives throughout the year. They sponsored numerous community events, including Family Bingo Night, Breakfast with Santa, and Spring Carnival.
- The Georgia Department of Education recognized Fort Daniel Elementary as Operational for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) School. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibit appropriate school conduct. Our school celebrated students and staff by recognizing desired behaviors with PBIS Celebrations. Students used points earned to attend.
- Fort Daniel Elementary hosted weekly Play 2 Learn classes again this year. Nearly 20 children under 5 years old and their caregiver(s) attended the sessions. Play 2 Learn is a program that encourages learning through play to support preparation for kindergarten.
- Fort Daniel Elementary Readers Rally Team won their Division Competition for the second year in a row and went on to compete in the District Competition. Readers Rally is a quiz bowl-styled competition for our fourth and fifth-grade students. Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books.
