- Freeman’s Mill Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a Math Leader based on student achievement growth of 5th grade students on the Georgia Milestones Assessment.
- All students at Freeman's Mill Elementary School have the opportunity to take a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Computer Science special class. In these classes, they learn the building blocks of how STEM works together, laying the foundation for further coursework that they can take in middle school. Students are also provided the opportunity to participate in the GCPS STEM Fair.
- Freeman’s Mill has two students win at the state level for the PTA Reflections program.
- Freeman's Mill Elementary School allows all students to engage in a school-wide club. Clubs include cheerleading, sewing, soccer, drawing, photography, cooking, robotics, and more. This past year we sponsored the first STEP Team, called FMES FORCE.
- Freeman's Mill Elementary School offers Robotics to students in grades 3-5. This year two teams represented the school at the Mountain View Regional competition. The 4th grade team won the Robot Design Award at Regionals and at Super Regionals.
- Freeman's Mill Elementary School hosted International Night in the Fall. We were excited to provide our diverse community with a wonderful night to celebrate what makes our school special. We included vendors from our school family and over 50 families who hosted booths that taught about their country and the traditions they celebrate.
- Freeman's Mill Elementary School had students in grades K-5 participate in Tapestry of Arts and the Mountain View Art Show. In addition, 4th and 5th grade students were offered the opportunity to participate in Chorus. Four students were selected to participate in the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Honor Chorus.
- The Georgia Department of Education recognized Freemans Mill Elementary School with Operational status for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
- The Freeman's Mill Elementary School PTA sponsored family and community events throughout the year, including the Bear Color Run, International Night, Polar Express Night, Sweethearts Ball, STEM Night, and Skate Night. Over the course of the school year, the PTA raised nearly $65,000, which was used to purchase additional technology, playground equipment, classroom supplies, books, and materials to support PBIS.
- Freeman's Mill Elementary Student Council supported several service projects during the school year, including United Way, Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, and a canned food drive to support local food pantries.
