  • Graves ES received two grants which was earmarked to fund outside tables, benches, and materials for students to use while playing on the existing upper and lower playgrounds.
  • Graves ES recognizes our business partners, Horace Mann and Graves Community Foundation, who support teaching and learning by recognizing the staff and/or students by making supplemental contributions throughout the school year.
  • Graves ES was recognized by the State of Georgia as a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Operational school. The students at Graves ES demonstrate Mustang PRIDE, positive attitude, respect, integrity, dedication, and excellence, as part of the overall culture of the school.
  • Graves ES students participate in a daily segment of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)in the classrooms. Bi-weekly, the school engages in a school-wide learning lesson which often times reflect the use of yoga moves on Wellness Wednesdays.
  • Graves ES partners with the Atlanta Food Bank where monthly distributions take place to provide food for the school community which serves an estimated 180-200 families. This also is a service project for the staff as a way to give back to the community.
  • Graves ES recognizes the talents of our students in various forms. The Graves Performance Arts Club, music, dance, and theater students, received a year two grant for the spring production of Finding Nemo. In addition, the Graves 4th Annual Soccer Carnival was held bringing together students, teachers, and parents to participate in this schoolwide event each year.
  • Graves ES participated in the Meadowcreek Cluster learning initiative, Instructional Conversations, which helps students strengthen their communication skills by focusing on improving their academic language in the classrooms.
  • Graves ES uses parent survey results to improve ongoing communication throughout the school year such as the use of monthly calendars, Town Hall meetings, and parent newsletters to keep the parents informed of the happenings taking place in the school.
  • Graves Parent Center offers a variety of assistance and resources to the families. This includes holding parent workshops for academic and non-academic assistance, facilitating Play2Learn sessions for birth to five children not enrolled in school, and leading the little Learners Academy for specific young learners.
  • Graves ES staff received additional degrees and endorsements (ESOL, Gifted, and Master's) to enhance their professional growth in education to serve all students.
  • Graves ES proudly serves approximately 790 multi-lingual students with varying levels of language skills each year.
