- Gwin Oaks Elementary School proudly received the Governor's 2024 Silver Award for Highest Achieving Schools in the state of Georgia!
- Our phenomenal media specialist was awarded the School Empowerment Grant from Walton EMC to support our "Growing Readers: One Challenge at a Time" program.
- Our Lead ESOL teacher was awarded a $10,000 grant from McDonald’s Golden Arches Grant to support multilingual students with Pocketalk Translators.
- One of our second-grade students was a winner in the GCPS Science Fair for her outstanding project on pollinators, featuring the fascinating Eastern Black Swallowtail Caterpillar!
- One of our fourth-grade students won the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition for Gwinnett and is proudly representing our district at the state level.
- The Gwin Oaks student broadcast team had an exciting opportunity to visit WSB-TV, where they learned all about television production from industry experts.
- The Gwin Oaks Chorus proudly performed the Canadian National Anthem at the Georgia Swarm hockey game, showcasing their talent on a big stage.
- Our two amazing counselors were honored as Co-Writer Award Winners for their published article in the American School Counselor Association Magazine.
- Gwin Oaks Elementary School honored the life of former President Jimmy Carter with a special library display showcasing his life and achievements. The display included photographs, books, and memorabilia highlighting his contributions to the nation and the world. Additionally, a condolence book was made available for staff and students to sign, allowing them to express their heartfelt messages and memories. This book will be sent to the Carter Library in Atlanta as a tribute to his enduring legacy. The library display was also featured on a segment of WSB-TV, bringing wider recognition to this heartfelt tribute.
- Our two robotics teams, the Gigabots and the Atlantic Bots, placed in the top 10 at regionals held at Grayson High School! The Gigabots also won a trophy for Robot Performance. This team also advanced to compete at the FLL Super Regional at Lanier High School, where they again placed in the top 10.
- Gwin Oaks Elementary School is proud of our Junior Beta Club students who participated in two impactful service projects this year. One project was a pajama drive sponsored by Jambos, where they collected new pajamas for children in foster care. The other project was a clothing drive, gathering gently used or new clothing to be donated to the Quinn House in Lawrenceville. These initiatives reflect our students' commitment to making a positive difference in the community.
