The Georgia Department of Education recognizes schools with exceptional achievement or growth in reading as Literacy Leaders. Schools are recognized for achievement or growth in the percentage of students reading at or above grade level. Elementary school recognition is determined using the Georgia Milestones Reading Status indicator, which is based on the Lexile score associated with students' performance on a subset of questions on the English Language Arts (ELA) assessment. Our 3rd graders were recognized as GA Literacy Leaders this year.

Harmony Elementary proudly presented Jack and the Beanstalk, a musical performed by our talented 4th and 5th grade drama and chorus students. Students worked diligently to develop essential drama skills, including voice projection, character development, stage presence, movement, and teamwork. Chorus students strengthened their vocal technique, harmony, rhythm, and expressive singing while learning to perform confidently as an ensemble. This production reflects our commitment to nurturing creativity, collaboration, and confidence through the arts.

Harmony Elementary proudly supports First LEGO League teams across the Discover, Explore, and Challenge divisions. Our Challenge-level Robotics Team comprised of 4th and 5th grade students recently earned top honors at the regional tournament, securing both the Overall Championship Award and the highest Robot Performance score. Their success advanced them to the Super Regionals competition. Meanwhile, the students in our Explore and Discover programs diligently developed their robots and practiced their mission runs. Across all teams, students consistently demonstrated the core FLL values which are gracious professionalism, creativity, empathy, and inclusion showcasing what true teamwork looks like.

The Georgia Department of Education announced the John Hancock Award, a special recognition for elementary schools demonstrating excellence in cursive writing in 2025. By mastering cursive writing and developing a personal signature, students build confidence, pride in their learning, and a deeper connection to foundational texts and ideas. Our 3rd graders were recognized with this award for being able to write their first and last name in cursive.

Advanced Content students in grades 2-5 at Harmony participated in the national math competition called Continental Math League. Our second grade team scored 2nd place in the state of Georgia. We also had one second grade student who had a perfect score and earned a national medal. Our third grade team placed 5th in the state, and our fourth and fifth grade teams both placed 4th in the state!

The Harmony School Library enriched and extended student learning in new ways this school year. We hosted new programs for every grade level, connecting students with local and national experts on everything from weather to pollinators and amphibians. These visits gave classroom learning depth and detail. We also added new areas for student reading and participation with flexible seating and interactive whiteboards and tables. The welcoming atmosphere in the library led to a dramatic increase in book circulation and student enthusiasm.

Harmony Elementary proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Literacy Carnival, transforming the school into a lively celebration of books and learning. Families, students, and staff explored a variety of interactive literacy stations and carnival-style activities throughout the evening. The highlight of the night was the energetic performances by our 2nd and 3rd graders, who filled the gym with excitement about literacy and school spirit. With colorful activities, shared laughter, and plenty of reading fun, the event offered a warm and memorable community experience for all who attended.

With support from Harmony PTO fundraising, a new playground structure was added to our campus this year for our school community. The addition of the climbing structure and unity rocker provides students from Pre-K to 5th grade with new opportunities for play when they enjoy outdoor recess time.

This year we were proud to host our International Family Night bringing families together for evenings filled with music, culture, and connection. Students showcased their musical talents as our Orff Ensemble performed during our student parade. Throughout the evening, families explored culture tables, enjoyed food samples from around the world, and celebrated the incredible diversity that makes Harmony so special.

Harmony Elementary School is a part of the Seckinger Cluster where we focus on educating students with the AI-Readiness Framework. Our goal is to ensure that every student understands AI and can navigate its impact, making them future-ready individuals. We provide Future-Ready learning experiences by embedding these AI-Readiness skills within our existing AKS during the instructional day. Additionally, we offer a Computer Science special to all students, where they learn the basics of coding, programming, and being creative problem solvers.
