- For the third year in a row, Kanoheda Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Distinguished status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
- Kanoheda Elementary School offers students multiple opportunities to engage in various extracurricular activities, including Chorus, Dance Team, Podcast Club, Student Council, Baking Club, Girl Scouts, and Jump Rope Club.
- Kanoheda Elementary School and the school community celebrated our unique heritages during our annual International Night. In March, our International Night celebration included dance, dress, music, information stations, a live band, and food trucks. The Chorus and Dance teams performed.
- To promote socio-emotional learning, our Kindergartners engage in a Guided Play special. This course highlights fundamental social emotional skills and collaboration for students through play with adult support and authentic fun.
- Kanoheda Elementary School provides additional support to students through career planning. They explored multiple career paths through guest speakers from our local region at KES Career Day 2025.
- Kanoheda Chorus performed throughout the year. Students performed a Winter Concert and at STEAM Night, International Night, and Black History Month Program. The chorus completed community outreach with an outstanding performance at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett Senior Living.
- Kanoheda families engaged in multiple events throughout the year to promote student achievement and parent involvement. Events included Curriculum Nights, Literacy Night, Math Night, Multilingual Parent Night, Gifted Parent Night, classes for parents of Students with Exceptionalities, STEM Night, Awards Ceremonies, and Title I events.
- Kanoheda Elementary students explored the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) in real life through multiple field trip opportunities. Students visited a variety of places aligned to their grade level standards and two in-house field trip experiences were provided to students. Grade levels explored Fernbank Museum, Callaway Gardens, Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center, Georgia Aquarium, Aurora Theater, and more.
- Kanoheda's Student Council provided multiple leadership opportunities throughout the school year. Students focus on service opportunities and social emotional activities to support the community. In the Fall, students celebrated our hardworking transportation team. In the Spring, students collected donations and contributed supplies to the Ronald McDonald House.
- Kanoheda offers learning opportunities for students and families. To support families, throughout the year, learning sessions were available with a variety of topics including homeownership, language arts at-home strategies, Parent Square learning sessions, and more.
