School Highlights
Kanoheda is "The Best School in the Whole Wide World!"
The following school highlights showcase how Kanoheda Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Kanoheda continues to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment, earning Georgia's PBIS Distinguished School recognition for multiple consecutive years. Students thrive in a culture that promotes positive behavior, strong relationships, and academic success.
- With families representing cultures from around the globe, Kanoheda's annual International Night showcases the beauty of our diverse community through music, dance, food, traditions, and student performances that bring the world together under one roof.
- Through Student Council and service-learning initiatives, students become leaders who make a positive impact both within the school and throughout the community, supporting charitable causes like 11Alive Can-a-thon and demonstrating the values of empathy, responsibility, and citizenship by collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House. Student learn about leadership qualities through our partnership with Gwinnett Rotary.
- Students discover their passions through a rich variety of extracurricular opportunities, including Chorus, Dance Team, Volleyball, Baking Club, Jump Rope Club, in-school mentoring groups like Kanoheda Kings and Precious Me, Robotics, Podcast Club and other activities that cultivate creativity, collaboration, and confidence.
- Kanoheda helps students connect learning to life through meaningful career-awareness experiences. Annual Career Day events introduce students to a wide range of professions, inspiring curiosity and helping them envision their future possibilities. Many members of the community join in to help bring the awareness opportunities to our campus.
- Kanoheda believes student success is strengthened by family engagement. Through literacy, math, STEAM, multilingual, gifted, and Title I events, families are active partners in supporting student growth and achievement. Students extend classroom learning through field trips and hands-on experiences aligned to grade-level standards. These opportunities deepen understanding, spark curiosity, and connect academic learning to the real world. This year students visited Fernbank Museum, Georgia Aquarium, the Gwinnett Heritage Center. They also attended a live performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and were present for the NCAA Women's Basketball Finals this year.
- From a state-of-the-art media production studio to literacy enrichment experiences with published authors, Kanoheda provides innovative opportunities that empower students to create, communicate, and become lifelong learners.
- This year two outstanding Kanoheda staff members were recognized for their hard work and commitment to academic excellence. Natalie Wiedenmann was recognized as the Gwinnett County Public Schools Elementary Gifted Contact of the Year because of her commitment to building a more inclusive gifted program for our exceptional learners. Shelbi Arnold was recognized as the Future Lego League New Coach of the Year for supporting our first year robotics team all the way to state competition.
- Kanoheda Elementary received the 2025 Gallup Q12 Survey Participation Award @ the Gold Level. Staff committed to sharing their feedback to help ensure we continue to demonstrate how and why we are, "The Best School in the Whole Wide World."
