- During our annual International Night, Kanoheda Elementary School and the school community celebrated our unique heritages. Our International Night celebration in March included dance, dress, music, information stations, a live band, and food trucks. The Chorus and Dance teams performed.
- Kanoheda Elementary School offers students multiple opportunities to engage in various extracurricular activities, including chorus, dance team, Reader’s Rally, Student Council, Baking Club, Girl Scouts, and Jump Rope Club.
- Kanoheda students participated in Health specials. Our Kindergarteners also had the opportunity to engage in a Guided Play special. This course highlights fundamental social-emotional skills and collaboration for students through play with adult support and authentic fun.
- This year, the Kanoheda Elementary Media Center received an upgrade to our production studio. Students now experience state-of-the-art equipment as they produce daily segments of the morning announcements.
- Kanoheda Elementary School provides additional support to students through career planning. At KES Career Day 2024, students explored multiple career paths with guest speakers from our local region.
- During the monthly board meeting, Kanoheda Chorus performed this year at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center. The chorus also completed community outreach with an outstanding performance at Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett Senior Living.
- Kanoheda Elementary School promotes a love of literacy among students. During an author visit, students engaged with Dr. Autumn Dodson. They heard her journey and connected with the possibilities for their futures.
- Kanoheda families engaged in multiple events yearly to promote student achievement and parent involvement. Events included Curriculum Nights, Literacy Nights, Math Nights, Multilingual Parent Nights, Gifted Parent Nights, classes for parents of Students with Exceptionalities, STEM Nights, Awards Ceremonies, and Title I events.
- Kanoheda Elementary students explored Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) in real life through multiple field trip opportunities. Students visited a variety of places aligned to their grade-level standards, and two in-house field trip experiences were provided to all students.
- For the second year in a row, Kanoheda Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Distinguished status for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
- Kanoheda is the best school in the whole wide world!!
