- Nesbit's Robotics Team 4th & 5th graders participated in the district-level Robotics competition. Our team of students and teacher sponsors won overall competition group B out of 12 schools. In addition, our Nesbit Mustangs won the overall competition for Robotic games. This competition included twenty-four schools combined with elementary and middle schools. This honor led to our Robotics team being invited to compete at the state Robotics competition at the University of Georgia.
- Nesbit's Partnership with GCPS Language Arts Team provided students with small group, differentiated instruction to meet each student’s individual academic needs. Nesbit Elementary was highlighted in the May edition of the Language Arts update. Nesbit Elementary has partnered with the district language arts team to implement the EL Education Literacy Curriculum using podcasts. This innovative approach enhances student engagement and literacy skills by incorporating audio learning into the curriculum. The collaboration aims to provide dynamic and accessible instructional conversations for students. This initiative showcases Nesbit Elementary's commitment to leveraging modern tools for effective literacy education.
- Nesbit Elementary School hosted The School Superintendents Association (AASA) Learning 2025 site visit. During the recent visit, the AASA team explored Nesbit Elementary's early learning programs, noting their innovative approaches and positive impact on student development. The tour showcased engaging classrooms, interactive learning activities, and dedicated educators fostering a nurturing environment. The AASA team praised the school's commitment to early education, emphasizing the importance of such programs in shaping future academic success. The visit highlighted Nesbit Elementary's role as a model for effective early childhood education.
- Nesbit Elementary recently celebrated the success of its 2nd annual multicultural event, a vibrant showcase of the 24 countries represented in our school community. The event featured diverse cultural displays, performances, and cuisine, fostering a powerful sense of belonging among students and families. It was a remarkable celebration of diversity and unity, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry that makes Nesbit Elementary a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
- Nesbit Elementary School is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
- Over 50% of Nesbit Elementary parents participated in Academic Parent-Teacher Teams. Parents and teachers meet three times a year to discuss student data. Parents learn to play instructional games that support their child’s learning with two foundational skills.
- Nesbit Elementary achieved a significant milestone as 16 additional teachers earned their ESOL endorsement. This accomplishment underscores the school's commitment to supporting English language learners and promoting inclusive education.
