School Highlights

The following school highlights showcase how Rock Springs Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.

  • Rock Springs Elementary completed its second year of implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), with a focus on celebrating students’ excellent behavior, reinforcing positive habits, and fostering a supportive school environment. Throughout the year, we held quarterly behavior celebrations and culminated with a behavior carnival for students who consistently exhibited good behavior.
  • Rock Springs has a variety of extracurricular clubs, including Chorus, Drama, Art, Robotics, Readers Rally, and Girls on The Run. Our drama program featured a captivating performance of ‘Junie B. Jones, Jr., The Musical,’ featuring a talented cast of over thirty students.
  • Rock Springs takes pride in its diversity, representing over 80 birth countries. In March 2024, we hosted an international night of celebration, bringing together parents, community members, and students to honor our multicultural heritage. From sampling ethnic foods to participating in dances and crafts, it was a vibrant and enriching experience for all.
  • Our active PTA membership and board organize numerous events throughout the school year, such as the Back-to-School Bash, Fall Festival, Family Dance, Bingo Night and monthly gatherings for students and families.
  • Rock Springs successfully completed our second year of Play 2 Learn classes—a series of weekly 90-minute sessions for birth to pre-K children and their families. These sessions focused on building parents’ capacity to be their child’s first teacher while providing valuable group learning opportunities. Certified teachers facilitated activities covering readiness skills in communication, language, literacy, cognitive development, social-emotional growth, approaches to play and learning, and motor skill development.
  • Rock Springs has worked closely with the district's Early Learning and School Readiness department to continue supporting students' early childhood development by piloting a Guided Play Space in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. The space provides a hands-on learning environment where students practice AKS through purposeful play guided by teachers. Teachers have intentional learning goals in mind for their students when they enter the Guided Play Space and use student choice and playful experiences to extend traditional classroom learning.
  • Our school partners with the community and local businesses with events like Salute to Service where students express their gratitude and honor service members.
