School Highlights
The following school highlights showcase how Rock Springs Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Rock Springs Elementary completed its third year of implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), with a focus on celebrating students’ excellent behavior, reinforcing positive habits, and fostering a supportive school environment. Throughout the year, we held quarterly behavior celebrations and culminated with a behavior carnival for students who consistently exhibited good behavior.
- Rock Springs takes pride in its diversity, representing over 80 birth countries. In November 2024, we hosted an international night of celebration, bringing together parents, community members, and students to honor our multicultural heritage. From sampling ethnic foods to participating in dances and crafts, it was a vibrant and enriching experience for all.
- Our school partners with the community and local businesses with events like Salute to Service where students express their gratitude and honor service members. This year we had the privilege of working alongside additional businesses who have partnered with our school.
- STEM Night 2025 was a huge success! Held in March, the event welcomed students, families, and community members for an evening filled with interactive science, technology, engineering, and math activities. Through exciting, hands-on stations, students had the chance to apply problem-solving skills and explore new concepts in a fun and engaging way. We were proud to collaborate with Collins Hill High School and local businesses, whose support helped provide meaningful, real-world STEM experiences. Events like this highlight the importance of community partnerships in enriching student learning.
- Rock Springs successfully completed our third year of Play 2 Learn classes—a series of weekly 90-minute sessions for birth to pre-K children and their families. These sessions focused on building parents’ capacity to be their child’s first teacher while providing valuable group learning opportunities. Certified teachers facilitated activities covering readiness skills in communication, language, literacy, cognitive development, social-emotional growth, approaches to play and learning, and motor skill development.
- Our active PTA membership and board organize numerous events throughout the school year, such as the Back-to-School Bash, Fall Festival, Family Dance, Bingo Night and monthly gatherings for students and families.
- Our school had the exciting opportunity to host chicks this spring! Students were able to observe the eggs in their incubator before they hatched, sparking curiosity and anticipation throughout the building. This hands-on experience allowed our students to witness the life cycle of a chick firsthand, creating meaningful connections to science standards and classroom discussions about animals, life processes, and care for living things. These real-life learning moments bring science to life and inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
- Rock Springs has a variety of extracurricular clubs, including Chorus, Drama, Art, Robotics, Readers Rally, P.E., Chess Club, and Girls on The Run. Our drama program featured a captivating performance of "Alice in Wonderland, The Musical", featuring a talented cast of over thirty students.
