The following school highlights showcase how Simonton Elementary School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.
- Simonton Elementary School is committed to dynamic, high-quality instruction that results in a passion for learning, leading, and excelling. We are committed to our core belief that “Every Student Every Day Deserves to Learn, Lead, and Excel.”
- Simonton ES celebrated its 30th anniversary during the 2023-2024 school year. Chairman Steven Knudsen, Cluster Superintendent Dr. Keith Thompson, and former principals were in attendance. It was a wonderful evening celebrating our school's past, present, and future. Many current and former staff members and students joined our celebration.
- Students at Simonton ES have multiple opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities such as robotics, chorus, art club, Reader’s Rally, intermural sports, and the GAGE Saturday and Summer Exploration program.
- In partnership with the Nordson Foundation, Simonton ES hosted Camp Invention and received a $6000 grant to offer scholarships to Simonton ES students.
- In our third induction ceremony, Simonton Elementary School welcomed forty-four 4th—and 5th-grade students into the Simonton Elementary School National Elementary Honor Society.
- Simonton ES teachers continue to be recognized for their fantastic work and contributions to student learning. Mrs. Lynn Wilson was named the Simonton ES Teacher of the Year. Governor Brian Kemp formally recognized Mrs. Stephanie Aseltine as the 2024 Don Cargil STEM Scholar at the GA State Capital building.
- Student recognition continues to be a priority at Simonton. Monthly, we recognize individual students, teachers, and classes who demonstrate the qualities of Learning, Leading, and Excelling as defined by the PBIS Award and the Black Knight Character Award.
- Advanced Content classes are offered to gifted and high-performing math, reading, and science students.
- Play2Learn, an early childhood program (birth to 4 years of age), is offered weekly at Simonton ES. This class is open to our school community, and parents bring their children to participate in play-based learning.
- We want to thank the Simonton ES PTA, our parents, community, and business partners for supporting our school and helping us create a warm and inviting school where student achievement is a priority and student success is celebrated.
