  • The Georgia Department of Education recognized Sugar Hill Elementary as a Distinguished School for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
  • All students participated in Explore Sugar Hill, a community-based field trip experience funded by the Sugar Hill PTO. City and cluster leaders collaborated to create standard-aligned experiences at Lake Lanier, Gold Mine Park, Downtown Sugar Hill, and Lanier High School.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary implemented its Second Annual International Night with over 700 participants, 40+ countries represented, live performances, and interactive experiences for students and adults.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary had First Lego League (FLL) robotics teams in kindergarten through fifth grade. Through the global robotics program, FLL students receive exciting hands-on learning experiences and gain real-world problem-solving skills.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary hosted three parent workshops to equip families with tools to develop the whole child. A portion of one evening was dedicated to family community building that included STEAM activities, food, entertainment, and activities. One of the workshops included assistive device training for parents whose children use devices.
  • All students at Sugar Hill Elementary participated in Career Day. Students learned about 25 professions from current practitioners.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary provided 20 club offerings throughout the school year. Clubs included academic, interest, and fine arts-related opportunities.
  • Sugar Hill collaborated with the Lanier Cluster schools to implement events, including the “We are Lanier” 5th-grade flag football event, Explore Sugar Hill, and Sugar Rush.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary provided two Play 2 Learn classes for 34 children ages birth to five. The children learned through hands-on experiences, play, music, and storytelling.
  • Sugar Hill Elementary was a National First-Place winner in the Continental Math League in 4th grade. Five 4th-grade students received national student leader recognition. Students are assessed on their ability to solve analytical math problems.
