- Sugar Hill Elementary was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Distinguished status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibited appropriate school conduct.
- Sugar Hill Elementary was recognized as a Distinguished Kindness School by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.
- The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) raised over $60,000 to support literacy enhancements in the book room, the Explore Sugar Hill trips, and inclusive playground.
- Sugar Hill Elementary had First Lego League (FLL) robotics teams in kindergarten-fifth grade. Students in FLL receive exciting hands-on learning experiences and gain real-world problem solving skills through the global robotics program. Sugar Hill’s competition team qualified for the state tournament at Georgia Tech.
- Sugar Hill Elementary implemented its Fourth Annual International Night with over 700 participants, 40+ countries represented, live performances, and interactive experiences for students and adults.
- All students participated in a community-based field trip experience called Explore Sugar Hill funded by the Sugar Hill PTO. City and cluster leaders collaborated to create standard aligned experiences at Lake Lanier, Gold Mine Park, downtown Sugar Hill, and Lanier High School.
- All students at Sugar Hill Elementary participated in Career Day. Students learned about 18 professions from current practitioners.
- Sugar Hill Elementary provided two Play 2 Learn classes for children ages birth to five. Children learned through hands-on experiences, play, music, and storytelling.
- Sugar Hill collaborated with the Lanier Cluster schools to implement events including “We are Lanier,” 5th grade flag football event, and Explore Sugar Hill.
- Sugar Hill 4th grade student, Anaisha Taran, was recognized as a Georgia state winner of the Cybersecurity Awareness poster contest.
