- GSMST was acknowledged by the Georgia Department of Education as a 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School in six categories: AP Access and Support School, AP Humanities School, AP Humanities Achievement School, School of Distinction, AP STEM School, and AP STEM Achievement School. Additionally, GSMST was awarded “Platinum with Access” achievement level from the College Board for AP achievement in 2024.
- Every level of the Orchestra, Band, and Chorus programs received straight Superior ratings at the Large Group Performance Evaluations, sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association in 2025.
- GSMST led the state in SAT and ACT scores in 2024.
- GSMST students excelled at the Gwinnett Regional Science Fair, the Georgia Science Fair, and the International Science Fair in 2025. The school celebrated over 40 students that placed first at the Gwinnett Science Fair, over 15 students that placed first in their categories at the Georgia State Science Fair, and 4 students that advanced to the International Science Fair.
- In addition to Science Fair experiences, students at GSMST are exposed to many opportunities to engage in science research. In 2025, two students took second and third place in the Georgia Junior Science & Humanities Symposium for their work, and competed at the National Symposium in Washington D.C..
- GSMST was awarded the title of “Literacy Leader” school by the Georgia Department of Education in 2024 for the achievement and growth shown on the 2024 Milestones in 11th grade ELA.
- GSMST students excelled in the area of computer science and robotics in 2025. 10 teams competed in the Lockheed Martin’s CodeQuest in 2025, and GSMST had a clean sweep in the Advanced Division, taking home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. In addition, the GSMST FRC Robotics team placed 4th out of 32 teams after the qualifying rounds and they were able to win 2 of 3 semifinal matches along with their 2 alliance partners.
- 100% of students completed and passed the End of Pathway exam in Engineering. Students at GSMST have opportunities to experience CTAE courses and pathways in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Game Design, Graphic Design, Audio Visual Technology, Engineering, and Biotechnology.
- The GSMST Readers Rally team won their third straight championship title in the 2025 District Readers Rally Championship.
- The 2023-24 Literary Magazine, Infinitas Vol 19: Deception, was selected to receive the rank of "REALM First Class" in the 2024 NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines Program. This award is given by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and helps to inspire a love of writing.
