JROTC
Army JROTC Leadership Team and Academic Team qualified for the prestigious 2024-25 JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) National Championship, that took place in Washington, D.C. Out of 3,507 JROTC programs worldwide, only 106 have earned a spot in this year’s JLAB Championship. We stand out as one of just 18 programs competing in both the Leadership and Academic categories, demonstrating the exceptional caliber of its cadets. South Gwinnett High is one of only four schools in Georgia to qualify in both the Leadership and Academic categories—an impressive accomplishment that highlights the strength and excellence of the school’s JROTC program. To get there, they’ve had to beat out over 85,000 other cadets.
South Gwinnett High School students had the opportunity to participate in a “Live From Surgery” - Kidney Transplant
This immersive surgical experience brought them into the heart of a life-changing medical procedure. The school’s Health and Human Service Academy teamed up with Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Liberty Science Center to provide students with this learning opportunity. Students observed a son give a kidney to his father who was suffering from the impact of diabetes. Through the Live From Surgery program, students engage with medical professionals in real time, gaining firsthand insights into healthcare, surgical teamwork, and biotechnology. This experience allowed students to speak with the surgical team during the surgery.
