  • Climate, Culture and Discipline - Key operational efforts produced a 48-81% decrease in key culture and climate indicators (AWOL, Fighting, Tardy, Not Following Directions and Rude/Disrespectful Behavior). We were also cited in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for school transformation efforts and additionally selected for two case studies on school transformation.
  • South Gwinnett received two AP School Distinctions for the 2023-24 School Year: AP Humanities School and AP STEM School
  • AP Participation of Student Enrollment increased by 25% and Participation in Assessments by Choice were up 50%. 
  • Google Hosted an Exclusive Master Class at South Gwinnett High School -Google, in partnership with South Gwinnett High School, hosted a master class session that introduced students to the latest technologies and careers in computer science. This event took place at South Gwinnett High School, marking a significant opportunity for students to engage with experts from one of the world's leading tech companies. Google provided students with knowledge in coding, AI Machine Learning, and an insider's view into the innovative technology driving today's innovations. The event aims to inspire students and foster a deeper understanding of what a future career in technology might look like.
  • PCOM & South Gwinnett - Led by the PCOM Georgia Student Government Association’s First-Generation Committee, a group of mostly first gen DO, PharmD, DPT, and Biomed students recently visited South Gwinnett High School to speak about different health careers! “We want to encourage new first-generation students to be health care professionals and lead by example,” explained First Gen Committee Chair Emily Graves (MS/Biomed '24). Graves and her peers shared their experiences, answered questions, and discussed application processes before leading the high schoolers in a “build your own backpack” activity. We’re #PCOMProud of these students for taking the time to help educate and inspire young people in our community!
  • Business Entrepreneurship and Hospitality Academy - South Gwinnett High School students gain valuable insights into the culinary world with industry chefs at a local hospital kitchen tour - South Gwinnett High School students embarked on an enriching journey into the heart of culinary excellence at Piedmont Eastside Hospital's state-of-the-art kitchen. Director of Community Relations Outreach Liz Jackson and South Gwinnett's Academy Coach Franchesca Thompson collaborated to provide a unique experience to give young minds a firsthand glimpse into the intricate workings of a professional kitchen environment. Led by esteemed culinary Chef West, students were guided through interactive sessions designed to ignite their passion for the culinary arts and instill a deeper understanding of nutrition's pivotal role in healthcare. From learning about food safety protocols to witnessing the meticulous preparation of nutritious meals to meet the diverse dietary needs of patients, the experience proved to be both educational and inspiring.
  • DECA Induction Ceremony - Congratulations to our DECA officers for a phenomenal induction ceremony in collaboration with Shiloh High School. The DECA program seeks to develop leadership skills, expand students’ business knowledge, and encourage involvement in local communities. The 2023 South Gwinnett and Shiloh DECA chapters are ready for an exciting year!
  • STEAM Academy - Dress for Success Clothing Closet Initiative - South Gwinnett High School expresses profound gratitude to local businesses for empowering our school through a Dress for Success Clothing Closet Initiative. South Gwinnett High School extends a heartfelt appreciation to the generous contributions of The Infusion Inc & Piedmont Hospital Community Relations (Snellville), whose support has fueled the success of the Dress for Success Clothing Closet initiative. The overwhelming support from our community's businesses has been instrumental in the growth and sustainability of our Career Technical Education Programs.
  • Science Fair - South Gwinnett young scientists participated in the Gwinnett Science, Engineering, and Innovation Fair at Gas South and achieved multiple 2nd and 3rd placements in various categories. 
  • Vex Robotics - Three Vex Robotics teams from South Gwinnett exhibited excellent engineering and coding skills in various tournaments including tournaments at Cross Keys HS, Clarkston HS, Paul Duke STEM HS, and GCPS league matches. 
  • Public Service Law and Media - South Gwinnett High School students participated in mock interviews through the Applications of Law pathway! We want to thank our community stakeholders for supporting our scholars. JROTC earned Honor Unit with Distinction during their inspection.
  • The SGHS chorus hosted Dr. David Morrow from Morehouse College as he conducted a vocal clinic with our advanced level students. Dr. Morrow worked with our students on their LGPE choral selections to further prepare them for their LGPE. 
  • The Advanced Mixed Chorus and Advanced Women's Chorus each received Excellent Performance Ratings at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation.
  • The Honor Orchestra performed at the ISC for the Biden/Harris Power Up event. Four students performed at the District 13 Honor Orchestra event. The Honor Orchestra performed at the ISC for the annual Cluster Board Meeting. All 3 Orchestras received the highest possible rating of Superior at our annual Large Group Performance Evaluation. Two students represented SGHS, GCPS and the state of Georgia as participants in the annual 2024 All State Orchestra. A student was selected to participant in the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra for the upcoming 2024-2025 season which is a phenomenal accomplishment. Mrs. Erma Davis, orchestra conductor was selected to serve as an adjudicator for the SCMEA CPA (South Carolina Music Educators Association Concert Performance Assessment) in March 2025.
  • Academic Programs: South Gwinnett offers a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, dual enrollment options, and a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for college and careers.
  • Extracurricular Activities: The school has a wide range of clubs and organizations, including academic clubs, service organizations, and special interest groups.
  • Athletics: South Gwinnett has a strong athletics program with various sports teams, including football, basketball, soccer, track and field, and more. The school has produced several athletes who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.
  • Fine Arts: The school has a robust fine arts program, including band, choir, drama, and visual arts. Students often participate in local and state competitions, showcasing their talents.
