Academic Excellence Recognition
Coleman Middle School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a Literacy and Math Leader School, earning the 8th Grade Master of Mathematics Award and the 6th Grade Literacy Leader Award. These recognitions demonstrate the depth of our student and staff commitment to academic excellence!
Award-Winning Arts Program
Two Coleman students had their artwork displayed at the Georgia State Capitol during Youth Art Month, and one 6th-grader earned 2nd place in the Georgia Recycling Coalition’s Recycled Art Contest. Additionally, Coleman Visual Arts students’ work was featured in rotating exhibits at Duluth City Hall through the Duluth Fine Arts League.
Outstanding Music Achievements
Both the 7th and 8th grade orchestra and band programs earned ALL superior ratings at LGPE, with four students selected for the elite Kendall Honors Orchestra.
Grant-Funded Opportunities
Coleman received multiple grants, including a Georgia Council for the Arts grant, Jackson EMC Bright Ideas grants, and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful funding to enhance arts, STEM, and garden programs.
Athletics Achievement
The Coleman Boys Basketball team advanced to the district finals during the 2025–26 season, a first for our school!
Student Leadership & Recognition
A Coleman student was selected for the Junior Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, and a Coleman 8th grader received the district’s Caring Award. Additionally, three students completed the new NJROTC partnership program with Duluth High School.
Career & Writing Achievements
Three Coleman students were recognized in Nordson’s Tech Time Writing Challenge. Additionally, a Coleman student was recognized as a state-level Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) essay competition winner!
Positive School Culture
Coleman was recognized in December of 2025 after being named a Distinguished PBIS School for the 2024–25 school year. This achievement reflected a strong commitment to a positive school climate and student success.
STEAM & Innovation Success
Coleman celebrated two of our students advancing to the state level in the inaugural Model Water Tower Competition. Additionally, Coleman continues to be a Georgia DOE STEAM certified school and the only one of its kind in GCPS!
