For the second year in a row Couch Middle School has been named a Math Leader School by the Georgia Department of Education, an honor that recognizes the sustained commitment to high-quality math instruction and student growth.

Couch Middle School Readers Rally Team exemplifies the power of literacy to drive academic excellence. Through sustained commitment to reading, critical thinking, and collaboration, the team earned the Middle School Division Championship for three consecutive years (2024, 2025, and 2026), including the overall Middle School Readers Rally Championship in 2025 and a top‑tier championship finish in 2026.

Kysha Owens, Couch Middle School Teacher of the Year, was selected as a Top 25 Teacher of the Year finalist for Gwinnett County.

In mid-January, Couch Middle School’s annual Science Fair showcased an impressive range of creativity and scientific curiosity. As part of their physical science class, all 8th grade students conducted research and experiments during the Fall semester. The completed projects for the fair explored everything from plant growth under different conditions and magnetic microplastic removal to robotics for emergency responders and engineering solutions for earthquakes. This reflects a remarkable diversity of student interests and ambitions. The outstanding work of our students made selecting winners a true challenge. Ultimately the top five projects, created by Nevein Sebastian, Payton Mompoint, Adey Belay, Sara Cehic, and Hannah Chamberlain, stood out for their exceptional inquiry and presentation. We are also proud to announce that Couch will be sending our top 15 projects to the county science fair in February where our students’ innovation will continue to shine. This year’s fair was a powerful reminder of the talent, curiosity, and dedication thriving at Couch Middle School.

Each year, District 13 hosts an Honor Choir event and Couch Middle School had 18 students selected to participate. Out of the 33 students who auditioned from Couch, 8 of these students received a perfect score! This is a huge opportunity for students to learn from amazing choral directors and work with other students around the district.

Three students attended the 2026 All-State Chorus Conference in Athens, GA. These three students passed their auditions with perfect scores!
