School Highlights

The following school highlights showcase how Hull Middle School is fulfilling Gwinnett County Public School's four strategic priorities of Empathy, Equity, Effectiveness, and Excellence. Visit the School Profile Dashboard to find more detailed data on our school.

  • One of Hull Middle's students won first place in the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair. Her project highlighted the need for more effective antimicrobial drugs against microbial infections due to increased resistance. She concluded that two specific natural products showed the greatest inhibitory effect against soil microorganisms when used alone or in combination when compared to other antimicrobial agents, including synthetic ones.
  • Another Hull Middle student won third place in the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair for his project, which focused on the implications for a more environmentally friendly and efficient way to propel vehicles using technology that harnesses the power of electromagnetic energy. He believes this technology has the potential to transform our transportation system in the future.
  • Two of Hull's teachers were the recipients of Jackson EMC Bright Idea Grants for students who conducted thermodynamic investigations to design and build koozies and for students who incorporated coding to design an illuminated quilt.
  • Hull Middle's Chess Club placed in the 2024 National Middle School Championship, held in Atlanta.
  • Hull Middle School's Boys' Basketball Team made it to the semi-finals.
  • The 6th grade STEM Science teacher created an immersive experience for students to travel through the earth's layers, which brought one of the AKS to life. The experience allowed students to master the content through visual models, looping audio information, and interactive QR codes, all created by Hull's 6th-grade STEM students.
  • Two students' artwork was displayed at The Capitol Art Exhibition (CAE), an annual student art exhibition in honor of National Youth Art Month.
  • Hull Middle's Band and Orchestra programs received superior ratings on their performances and sight reading during the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). LGPE is a public evaluation of ensembles sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). It is based on state and national music standards and includes performances, sight reading, and repertoire. A panel of judges evaluates the performance and the sight reading.
  • Hull Middle School served the largest number of students among all GCPS Middle Schools' Orchestra Programs in 2023.
  • One of Hull's teachers was selected from a competitive pool of applicants as a 2023-2024 EcoRise Teacher Ambassador to champion sustainability education for this region, support and work with teachers in the community, and encourage students to improve local environmental and social issues through design thinking.
