- Richards Middle School improved in each domain of the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). The scores achieved were Progress 89.0, Closing Gaps 86.0, Readiness 83.2, and Content Mastery 58.7. The School Climate Star rating was 4 stars, out of 5 stars.
- The Georgia Department of Education recognized and awarded Richards Middle School as a "Math Leader School" for 8th grade students’ demonstration of strong growth or achievement in Enhanced Algebra Math proficiency.
- 8th Grade Physical Science Teachers Melissa Ferreira, Ginomol Mathai, Claire Putnam, and Emily Smith each applied for and earned a Walton EMC Bright Ideas Grant. Their combined grant total surpassed $6,500.
- Fifty 6th-8th grade Richards Middle School students had the opportunity to participate in a yearlong student leadership program with leaders from The University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development. Students learned about developing social and behavioral skills to help them transition smoothly from adolescence to adulthood, and the importance of making a difference in the lives of other people and the community around them.
- A record number of thirteen Richards Middle School students completed the rigorous interview process and were selected to participate in the highly competitive C5 Georgia Student Leadership Program. C5 Georgia is a youth development program that prepares at-risk students for success in academics and the community.
- The Richards Middle School Girls Basketball Team won 1st Place in the Eastern Division Conference Championship Tournament.
- The Richards Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer Clubs earned first place in their respective divisions during regular season play of the first inaugural GCPS Middle School Soccer League.
- Richards Middle School had the highest United Way Fundraising Campaign of all Gwinnett County Schools, with a contribution total of $6,997.
- 8th Grade Business Technology student Johnny Tran placed in the top 10 in Georgia (6th place) during the Fall Qualifier of the 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship.
- 6th Grade Multi-lingual Math Teacher James Shaver was voted by his peers as the Richards Middle School Teacher of the Year (TOTY). He will serve his TOTY term during the 2025-2026 school year.
- Richards Middle School improved to its highest ever overall score on the Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Survey with a 4.49 Engagement Mean score, which is in the 89th percentile rank for the education industry and one of the highest GCPS middle school scores.
