  • The Richards Middle School Mixed Chorus received Excellent ratings in both performance and sight reading. Similarly, the 8th Grade Advanced Band received Superior and Excellent on performance, and an Excellent in sight reading. The 7th and 8th grade bands received Excellent on both performance and sight reading.
  • A school record number of ten Richards Middle School students completed the rigorous interview process and were selected to participate in the highly competitive C5 Georgia Student Leadership Program. C5 Georgia is a youth development program that prepares at-risk students for success in academics and the community.
  • The Richards Middle School Boys Soccer Club won 1st place in the Gwinnett Middle School Intramural Tournament. The Richards Middle School Girls Soccer Club finished in 3rd Place.
  • Richards Middle School generously raised $10228.86 toward the annual GCPS United Way fundraising campaign.
  • 8th Grade Physical Science Teacher Emily Smith was voted Teacher of the Year and was also selected to participate in the 2024-2025 Teachers as Leaders Program.
  • The Richards Middle School Robotics Teams competed in tournament competition, with one of the teams again reaching the semi-finals in the final middle school tournament at Brookwood High School.
  • Sixth grade student Aysha Abbasi outlasted all other 6th-8th grade competitors to capture the school-wide Spelling Bee Championship.
  • Richards Middle School hosted 88 guest speakers from the Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta areas for Career Day 2024, providing students a first-hand glimpse into a variety of exciting career possibilities.
  • Richards Middle School was commended for exceeding academic growth data targets on the student iReady Reading Screener.
  • Head Custodian Dragana Sejdic and Cafeteria Manager Ryan McManus continue to provide distinguished leadership for their respective departments, each earning outstanding scores on inspections and evaluations. Mrs. Sejdic once again earned the GCPS Head Custodian of the Year Award, for excellence in leadership and performance.
