- Sweetwater had 34 7th and 8th grade Orchestra students to earn Superior rating at GMEA for the Large Group Performance Evaluations.
- Fourteen Sweetwater Orchestra students received Superior at the Solo and Ensemble Festival.
- Sweetwater STEM Academy students participated in college visit to the University of Georgia to explore a variety of STEM Careers.
- The STEM Academy had a College & Career Exploration Fair with over forty vendors participating
- Twelve Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Students earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy and achieved at least the Intermediate Mid proficiency level on all four skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and have, in fact, surpassing the proficiency targets set by the district. Also, seven DLI students were honored for The Pathway Award testing in the Intermediate range in all skills, these students have surpassed district proficiency targets, and are well on track to earning the first level of their Global Seal.
- The school’s first VEX Robotics Team participated in Georgia MS VEX Robotics State Championship this year. With an eleven-member team, one team placed 15th and another 32nd. This was an excellent showing for our first time competing at the State level.
- Sweetwater had a total of 240 students to participate in the local school Science & Engineering Fair. With fifteen Sweetwater students being recognized at the District’s Science & Engineering Fair as 2nd and 3rd place winners.
- Several of Sweetwater 8th grade Band students received an excellent rating at Large Group Performances Evaluations.
- Sweetwater Boys Soccer Team placed 3rd Place in the Middle School Club league.
- Sweetwater submitted Intent to seek STEM Certification Form to the Georgia Department of Education.
- We had twelve female students attend Georgia Tech: Women in Engineering TEC Camp over Spring Break. The camp is designed as an introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Computing in an effort to inspire girls to consider college majors and careers in those respective fields.
