  • Twin Rivers was recognized by Gwinnett County Public School with an Engagement Award. This performance-based award recognizes a division and school that have successfully implemented innovative strategies to support the engagement of staff, families, and/or the community in the educational process. Twin Rivers earned 4.75 on school climate ratings from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). School climate is a broad term that describes the quality of school life based on the experiences of students and adults (families, teachers, and staff). GaDOE School Climate Star Rating is a 1- to 5-star system that evaluates the quality of a school’s learning environment; five stars represent an excellent climate, and one star indicates the greatest need for improvement.  

  • Twin Rivers was the only school in Gwinnett County that advanced two administrators into the Aspiring Principal Program (APP).  The APP is a leadership pipeline that prepares assistant principals for a principalship in GCPS.   

  • Twin Rivers was recognized as Math Leader from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) for the second consecutive year. Math Leader qualifications are based on at least 98% of students achieving the Proficient Learner level or Distinguished on the Georgia Milestones mathematics assessments.   

  • Twin Rivers scored a perfect 100 on the College and Career Ready Performance Index from the GaDOE in the category of Closing the Gaps. Improvement targets were achieved in Math, Science, and Social Studies for Economically Disadvantaged students, Special Education students, and Multi-Language Learners.  

  • Twin Rivers was recently recognized as a Distinguished Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) by the state of Georgia. "Distinguished" signifies that a school is implementing PBIS with a high degree of fidelity and meets rigorous criteria, including reduced office discipline referrals, improved attendance, and higher school climate scores 

  • Twin Rivers recently expanded their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based curriculum for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  Previously, it was only offered to 8th grade students. Twenty students' amazing STEM projects moved on to the GCPS Science and Engineering Fair where all projects earned 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place recognition in their category. One Twin Rivers student qualified for the state Science and Engineering Fair.  

  • Twin Rivers Theater Arts program was honored through the Junior Thespian Inductions, recognizing students dedication to theatrical excellence and the performing arts. At the County Theatre Festival, TRMS earned the prestigious Best Cast award, showcasing the talent and teamwork of the entire production. Additionally, a TRMS student received the Best Actress award for an exceptional performance, and another student was named the winner of the Monologue Competition, highlighting the depth of talent within our theater program.  

  • Twin Rivers Band program continues to demonstrate excellence in music performance. The 7th Grade Bear Pride Band earned straight Superior ratings in both their stage and sight-reading performances, while the 8th Grade Bear Pride Band received an overall Excellent rating (II, II, I) for their stage performance and a Superior rating in sight-reading. In addition, 17 TRMS students will represent our school through participation in the GMEA Small Group Performance Evaluation (Solo & Ensemble), and seven 6th-grade students performed in the GMEA First Year Honor Band Clinic.

  • Twin Rivers hosted the 6th Grade County Honor Orchestra for students from Trickum MS, Dacula MS, Northbrook MS, and Hull MS. Twin Rivers 7th and 8th grade Orchestra students received straight Superior ratings for their performances on stage at the annual Large Group Performance Evaluation. One 8th grade orchestra student made All-State Orchestra which is an extremely competitive selection process.   

  • Twin Rivers chorus teacher, Mr. Hannon was awarded Middle School Teacher of the Year out of 29 schools within GCPS. Mr. Hannon was recognized as a top three finalist for the district’s teacher of the year award. Twin Rivers 7th and 8th grade chorus students received Straight Superior scores in Performance and Superior at the annual Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) for the fourth consecutive year. Multiple top-performing TRMS students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades performed at the GMEA District 13 District Honor Chorus in Athens, GA.   

  • The Boys' Basketball Team had an impressive record of 11-3 and qualified for the Middle School GCPS tournament for the third consecutive year. The Boy's and Girl’s Soccer Team also had an impressive regular season beating top ranked teams.
