• Media Circulation Procedures

  • For Digital Learners at Home

We are excited to offer curbside pickup for our students during digital learning! Students will use the Destiny Discover media catalog in eCLASS to locate books and place holds. Parents will receive an email notification when the books are ready to be picked up at our designated curbside pickup times. Refer to the job aid and Q and A document to find out more about these procedures. We look forward to seeing our families at our curbside book checkout!

Digital Learning Checkout Q and A for Parents

    For Face-to-Face Students in School

Kindergarten and Grade 1: one book/one week

    Grades 2-5: two books/two weeks

All students are expected to receive weekly access to the media center for circulation purposes. For this school year, students will visit the media center with their class at a scheduled time for a whole class checkout. The hold system may also continue to be used for classes of students that are in the building. Students are expected to keep their media accounts current.

Overdue notices are generated throughout the year. Media overdues are accessible on the parent portal and in the Destiny Discover media catalog, which can be found in the eCLASS student portal. Once the catalog opens, students can click on login and then use the menu options to locate their checkouts.

GCPS policy states that lost or damaged book issues must be resolved before circulation privileges can be restored. Fines for hardcovers and paperbacks are $15.00 and $5.00, respectively. If the book is found and returned, we promptly issue a refund of your payment. The final report card of the school year will be held until the outstanding fine has been satisfied.

Fines are assessed based on the severity of the damage to the book. Most of our issues are caused by water bottles, pets, and younger siblings. Thanks for your support in helping our students learn proper book care. Please contact the media staff if you have any questions.
