    JHETT, SET, GO!

    The Jhett Michael Scholars Foundation will be providing free mobile meals to go for Berkmar High School students every Monday through Thursday at 1:30pm. We encourage our students to come out and take advantage of such a great opportunity.

     

     

    Jhett Michael’s Tutoring

    The Berkmar Community School has partnered with the Jhett Michael Scholars Foundation to offer free tutoring services! Math, Social Studies and Language Arts tutoring sessions are available for both In Person and Digital students! Each teacher will have their own specific time, date and location.   • Class Descriptions (on hold until after the pandemic)

     

    DEFENSIVE DRIVING: Are you interested in qualifying for a discount on your automobile insurance premium? Many insurance carriers will provide a 10% discount to any driving age family member that takes this certificate course sponsored by the National Safety Council. Defensive driving is sponsored by the National Safety Council. Class is designed for adults and teens age 15 and up. Sites offering Defensive driving: Coming Soon.     DRIVERS EDUCATION: The course includes 30 hours of class instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction in a driver’s education car. Class meets for 3 hours per day for 10 school days during the school year or 7.5 hours per day for 4 days during the summer. Use the special driver’s education contract to register found on the Community School website or pick up a form at the Community School office. Turn in registration form no later than 7 days before class begins. Additional driving hours are available for an extra fee. (For High School age students only.)  More information here.

    ESOL: This bi weekly class is designed to improve the speaking and listening skills parents need to communicate with their children’s teachers and school! Ask and answer questions, use clear pronunciation, understand and explain.

    GOOGLE CERTIFICATION LEVEL I: This course is designed to prepare participants to become proficient users of G-Suite tools and to increase their toolkit of instructional strategies in the classrooms. At the end of the course participants will earn a google certification.

    KARATE: Join us for fun and fellowship while learning Karate. Mr. Jim Knox has been teaching Karate at Berkmar for several years. Students age 4 and up are welcome to join. Class will meet in Berkmar High School’s Wrestling room.

    MEDIA CENTER: The Berkmar High School Media Center is open selected Saturdays from 8:00am until noon for students, teachers, and cluster school community members. 

    SAT PREP: This 18-hour course will expose students to concepts & strategies for the challenging SAT. This will include material for the Reading Test (interpreting infographics, contextualization, synthesis), the Writing Test (passage improvement, expression of ideas, grammar), the Math Test (algebra, data analysis, complex functions, trigonometry), and the new Essay. Fee includes instructional materials. ***Enrollees are encouraged to take the free SAT practice test on February 9 in order to get baseline data on their test performance.
