Registration for upcoming Kindergarten students for the new school year will take place starting in April of each school year.
What documentation will I need to register my student?
Any current Kindergarten student who is transferring to Head Elementary from within GCPS should visit the school's front office with the following documentation. The online registration process is NOT required for students transferring within GCPS.
- Withdrawal Form from Previous School
- Proof of Residency
- Parent/Guardian ID

🍎Do you have a child that will be starting Kindergarten next year?🍎
April 10, 2023: Kindergarten Online Registration Opens
Kindergarten Online Registration for the 2023-2024 school year will open on Monday, April 10th.
When completing the online registration form, please make sure to select the 2023-2024 school year from the drop-down list.
April 18, 2023: Kindergarten Registration Day at Head Elementary
- Receive a FAST pass prior to Kindergarten Registration Day for completing your registration online. You will have a shorter wait time!
- If you’ve received a FAST pass or have completed your registration on Tuesday, April 18, your child will complete a Kindergarten Readiness Profile at that time. Registration is open from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Step 1: Complete Online Registration
For students enrolling in Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year:
If you are enrolling a new Kindergartener for the 2023-2024 school year, the child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2023.
Starting in April 2023, parents will complete the Online Registration Form. IMPORTANT: Please make sure to choose the "2023-2024" school year from the drop-down box.
Here is what you will need to complete the Online Registration.
After your registration is complete, you will be contacted to set up an appointment for your child to complete a Kindergarten Readiness Entry Profile. This will help us see what your child knows before entering Kindergarten.
For now, please visit the GCPS website for important information that will help the process go smoothly.

Step 2: Upload Required Documentation
During the online registration process, parents will upload the required documentation.
Directions for uploading documentation during the online registration process can be found here.
Please be aware that your child will not be entered into our student database and assigned a teacher until ALL required documents are received.
Upon completion of the online registration process by the parent, the school will contact the parent to verify that everything has been completed and the required documentation has been submitted.

GCPS provides parents with an opportunity to purchase accident insurance policies through K&K Insurance Group. There are several options for parents to choose from.
