Hello students and parents! My name is Meyuna Shepherd, a Professional School and Mental Health Counselor. I am so excited to be working here at Chesney Elementary School! I was born and raised in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2010, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications and Marketing at The University of West Georgia. 2015, my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health at Argosy University and my School Counseling Add-on at Mercer University in the Spring of 2021. My passion is to help students develop into their true whole self! My mission is to make sure that all students have an equitable education while coming alongside them to break barriers, succeed academically, grow developmentally, all while dancing and having fun!
I enjoy hanging with my friends and family, eating pizza, traveling, and reading a good fiction book.
Hey Champions! My name is Katie Timmons, Professional School Counselor for grades 3-5. This is my second year here at Chesney Elementary, and I am so happy to see all of your familiar faces again! I grew up here in Gwinnett County in the Peachtree Ridge cluster and attended the University of Georgia for my Bachelor's in Psychology (Go Dawgs!!). I earned my Master's of Education in School Counseling at Georgia State University.My goal as a School Counselor is to help students develop the social/emotional and academic skills they need to be successful and happy as they grow up! I strive to ensure that each and every student feels safe, respected, and supported to meet their needs as equity is very important to me. I use trama-informed counseling techniques to make my students feel comfortable so they are free to have fun and be a kid!Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your student or need any resources.
