  • Art Club

    Mission/Purpose:  Support student initiatives to act as peer leaders, research, and further skills in visual arts.

    Sponsor:  Ms. Rollocks

    Target Audience:  Any student interested in gaining a deeper understanding of art in grades 6-8.

    When:  Every other Thursdays 8:15-8:50 a.m.

  • ASL Club

    Mission/Purpose:  Hearing students wanting to learn sign language and Deaf students learning how to interact with their hearing classmates.

    Target Audience: Students who want to learn and practice American Sign Language

    When: 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday mornings -  Beginning September 4th

    Mission/Purpose: To provide students with the opportunity to sing and perform advanced repertoire in various genres.

  • Drumline

    Mission/Purpose:  We are very excited to introduce the sixth edition of the Berkmar Middle School Drum Line.  Our drumline is composed of snare drums, bass drums, tenor drums, and cymbals.  The Drum Line will be our highest audition group and will perform a wide variety of selections.  The Drum Line will have the opportunity to perform at various BMS evening events, pep rallies, and basketball games.   We have an exciting and ambitious program this year, so your dedication and perseverance will prove to be very rewarding.

    Target Audience:  Student auditions are required to participate in drumline.  The audition requirements will consist of a rhythm exercise, a prepared excerpt, and a sight-reading excerpt.

    • For the rhythm portion of the audition, your ability to maintain a steady beat will be tested.  You will be asked to play four measures of quarter notes in 4/4 time at 120 beats per minute.  You will be given two measures of the tempo on the metronome before you begin.
    • For the prepared excerpt, you will be asked to play a selection that you have had an opportunity to prepare before the audition.
    • For the sight-reading excerpt, you will be asked to play a selection that you have never seen prior to the audition.  You will be given approximately 30 seconds to silently study the excerpt before performing it to the best of your ability.

    When:  Drumline will rehearse every Tuesday at 8:15 AM.  You will be notified of any rehearsal cancellations or additions.

    What to Bring:  Sticks, Mallets, Music

  • Flute Choir

    Mission/Purpose:  This year Berkmar Middle School will have a flute choir, which will provide students the opportunity to perform in a small ensemble, as well as develop musicianship and instrumental technique.

    Target Audience:  7thand 8th-grade students who are currently playing flute in the Berkmar Middle School Band.

    When:  Rehearsals will be Thursdays after school until 5:45 starting August 23. Extra rehearsals may be called as we get closer to performance time.

  • Girls on the Run

    New Information as of Thursday, January 3, 2019

    Girls on the Run/Heart & Sole is an after-school program for girls that teaches life skills through exciting lessons and running games. The goal of the program is to build confidence and give girls a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. The program culminates with girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. Heart & Sole will meet after school 4:30-6:00 on Mondays & Wednesdays beginning the week of February 4 and ending the week of April 29.


    Lottery registration for Heart & Sole will begin Monday, January 7 to Wednesday, January 16 at 11:59 pm. Click here to access the registration website.. For teams that do not fill during the lottery period, registration will re-open on January 17 and continue through February 13.


    Starting this season, Girls on the Run will use an income-based sliding scale so that every girl who wants to participate can. The program registration fee is available on a sliding scale from $10 to $185.Click here for more information and to register.

  • Intramurals

    Mission/Purpose:  This year at Berkmar Middle School, our intramural program is going to offer a variety of activities encouraging students to be active and choose healthy behaviors.  The intramural program is open to all students attending BMS and will meet from 8:15 – 9:00 a.m. Students arriving at school prior to 8:15 should wait in the front lobby until one of the intramural directors escorts them to the gym.  The attached permission form will enable you to participate in as many programs as you choose.  Students are encouraged to attend as many as possible!

    Target Audience:  All BMS students in grades 6th-8th grade who want to stay physically fit

    Where:  Students will meet in the gym.
    What to Bring:  Students should come to school dressed to participate in fitness activities - athletic clothes and shoes.  Water is encouraged.  Locker rooms will be available for use after the club activities.

  • Readers Rally

    Mission/Purpose:  The primary goal of Readers Rally is to promote the love of reading.  As a team, students will read, discuss, and answer questions about the 15 books selected for this year’s Readers Rally competition.  Berkmar Middle School will send one team of 10 students to the county competition, scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2018, at Berkmar High School.

    Mission/Purpose: Campus Thrive is a club that empowers Middle School students to be leaders and disciple-makers in their schools and local communities. Students are trained to lead worship, teach, share testimonies and facilitate games.

Students will be in charge of creating the yearbook layout, taking pictures at school functions, and adding any necessary pages into the yearbook.
