Two GCPS police officers in running for national honor
September 8, 2021
Two School Resource Officers (SROs) who work for Gwinnett County Public Schools—Rhonda Wood and Zakia Williams—have been nominated for the Axon Rise Officer Award. The award honors officers who have saved a life or shown exemplary performance in the field. Wood and Williams were nominated for the honor after each officer, in separate incidents, helped save the life of an infant.
Finalists for the award will be selected based on online voting. Interested community members can vote for Officer Wood here. Votes for officer Williams can be placed here. Voting ends on September 17, 2021. Axon Enterprise, Inc., develops technology and products for military, law enforcement, and civilians. A panel of judges will review the top 10 finalists in each category and then select three winners.
