GCPS media specialist named finalist for state honor

    Maile Steimer, a Jones Middle School Media Specialist, has been named the 2022 Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) Metro Region Library Media Specialist of the Year (LMSOTY). Steimer was selected from a pool of media specialists of the year from school districts in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, and Rockdale counties. As a regional winner, Steimer will receive a $100 prize and a plaque commemorating the LMSOTY honor. She will now move on to the state competition where she is a finalist for the GLMA and GAIT (Georgia Association of Instructional Technology) Georgia School Library Media Specialist of the Year award.

     The award recognizes K-12 library media specialists with dynamic, innovative programs and whose instructional collaborations foster student engagement and achievement. The state award will be announced at GLMA Summer Institute on June 7, 2022

     GLMA is a professional organization of those dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of school library media specialists and to quality education in Georgia’s schools. GLMA, Inc. is the state affiliate to the American Association of School Libraries (AASL), American Library Association (ALA).
