Gwinnett BOE approves district and school leaders

At its May 19, 2022, business meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed principals for six schools—Archer High School, Collins Hill High School, Ferguson Elementary School, Grace Snell Middle School, Rockbridge Elementary School, and Woodward Mill Elementary School. In addition, the BOE appointed Dr. Bryan K. Long and Dr. Pamela “Pam” J. Williams to serve as cluster superintendents. Currently, Dr. Long is the principal of Dacula High School. He fills the role previously held by Debbie Dees. Dr. Williams currently serves as Chief of Staff in the Superintendent’s Office, and she takes the position of Joe Ahrens who is retiring.

The newly named principals are:

  • Conquisha Thompson has been named the principal of Archer High School. Dr. Thompson currently serves as an assistant principal at Shiloh High School. She assumes her new position as Ken Johnson transfers to serve as director of Leadership Development in Human Resources and Talent Management.
  • Lee A. Augmon, currently director of Special Education in Curriculum and Instructional Support, has been named the new principal at Collins Hill High School. She replaces Kerensa Wing who is retiring.
  • Altonise K. Henfield, an assistant principal at Knight Elementary School, has been named the principal at Ferguson Elementary School. Henfield steps into the position that opens with the retirement of Dr. Angelique Mitchell.
  • Jennifer N. Vaughn, a Snellville Middle School assistant principal, has been named principal for Grace Snell Middle School to fill the position currently held on an interim basis by Brenda Anderson.
  • Lissette C. McRea has been named the principal of Rockbridge Elementary Ms. McRea currently serves as an assistant principal at Pinckneyville Middle School. She assumes her new position as Dr. Kelly Scarborough moves to Sycamore Elementary School.
  • Dr. Sonya V. Brown, currently an assistant principal at Creekland Middle School, has been named the new principal for Woodward Mill Elementary School. She replaces Mike Bender who is the new principal for Lilburn Elementary School.
