Due to expected inclement weather on Wednesday, January 25, the fire department is moving the event to Monday, February 6.
Maxwell High School of Technology will host a vehicle extrication training exercise involving the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Department (GCFES), and Maxwell’s Fire Services. The extrication class will be held at the Maxwell Fire Tower from 8:30 a.m. until noon, Monday, February 6 with both a.m. and p.m. students in attendance.
GCFES Fire Station 24B at the Mall of Georgia, under the guidance of Lt. Brant Keiser, will be conducting training with Maxwell Fire students on techniques used for removing trapped and injured patients from motor vehicles. Maxwell students will receive hands-on experience with specialized rescue equipment like hydraulic rescue tools to pop open car doors, roll the dashboard, and cut-away the roof of vehicles to free trapped victims.
Lance Used Auto Parts in Lawrenceville, a community partner to the school district, will donate two cars for the extrication event.
