Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Marie Humphrey!

Bethesda Elementary Teacher of the Year 2022-2023

We are so proud to announce our 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year, Marie Humphrey! Marie has been teaching for 28 years, and she is starting her 16th year at Bethesda. She started with us in 2007 as a kindergarten teacher, but moved to ESOL and Reading Recovery in 2013. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Alcorn State University, a master's in elementary education from Grand Canyon University and a specialist in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Marie is a very busy person. In addition to her duties at Bethesda, she is also an instructor for GCPS working with teachers seeking ESOL endorsements, and she is chair of our Relay for Life committee.  She is married and has two children, Morgan and Michael, and she enjoys walking, reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, science fiction movies (good and bad,) and trips to the beach.

Congratulations Ms. Humphrey!
