Mrs. Bussey's Back to School Welcome Message

July 14, 2023

Hello Falcon Families.

I certainly hope that you are enjoying your summer and taking the opportunity to spend time with family and friends while also finding time for some rest and relaxation.

As the very proud principal of Dacula Middle School, it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year.  I am looking forward to welcoming students and families back into the building to engage in teaching, learning, and developing strong and positive relationships.

Open House is scheduled for Friday, July 28. Please access the Back to School document that is linked below for an outline and timeline in preparation for Open House.  Please see the assigned times to attend based on your child’s last name. Please abide by the assigned times for Open House in an effort to accommodate parking and relief from overcrowding.

Dacula MS Open House Procedures July 28, 2023

A-G:  12:00 – 1:00

H-M:  1:00 – 2:00

N-Z: 2:00 – 3:00

In order to provide you with a smooth Back to School/Open House experience, we ask that you please do the following:

  1. Beginning, Saturday, July 15, parents/guardians should log on to our school website and click on the Back to School Icon. From there, you will be linked to MyPaymentsPlus to access and complete the essential Back to School documents. All parents/guardians should have this paperwork completed prior to Open House. Documents include: Student/Parent Handbook, “Away For the Day” Cell Phone Expectations, Car Rider Information, Permission slips, Lunch forms, etc.
  2. On the morning of Open House, parents (and students) should access their (child’s) schedule via the parent portal, ParentVUE app, StudentVUE app, and/or eCLASS. Students will report to their first period teacher upon arrival to Open House at their designated time.

Our first day of school for ALL students is Wednesday, August 2.

Just as last year, all Gwinnett County Public School students will be issued a Chromebook for instructional use. Students will have no reason to rely on a personal device for instruction at school.  For our 7th and 8th graders, Chromebooks will be issued during Open House.  Sixth grade students will receive their devices on their first day at school on August 2.

Please be sure to visit the Back to School section on the homepage of our website. There you will find information regarding your child’s return including the documents referenced in this letter. While on our homepage, scroll all the way to the bottom where you have the opportunity to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, which is also updated regularly with information.

As a welcome back, we invite each of our Falcon Families to join us for the Dacula Cluster Night at Coolray Field on August 5 at 6:05 pm.  This will be a cluster event for each of our schools in the Dacula Cluster including Alcova Elementary, Dacula Elementary, Mulberry Elementary, Dacula Middle, and Dacula High. Tickets are available for purchase from our website or by using the link below.
