Boys Basketball Makes History

In just 4 years, Head Coach Cory Cason has built the Discovery Titans basketball program into a statewide name. This year the program took a huge step in gaining recognition around the state. Discovery was ranked inside the Top 10 in AAAAAAA all season, and finished the season ranked #5 per Kyle Sandy.

The Titans won multiple showcase games as well as their Christmas tournament this season!  The Titans won the Region 6 AAAAAAA Championship, the first in Discovery High School’s short history.  Their state playoff run included an appearance in the Elite 8 with wins over Parkview and Shiloh. The team finished the season with a school record 24 wins and just 6 losses.

Along the way, senior Leslie Nkereuwem, won Region Player of the Year, and the four other starters, senior Hasahnn Reynolds, senior Ian Hardy, junior London Riley, and junior Jaden Walker were all selected to the All-Region team. During the fall workout period the Titans had 36 different colleges, including thrity-two Division 1 programs visit the school to watch the Titans work out. This led to numerous scholarship offers for Discovery players. Leslie Nkereuwem is signed to play Division 1 basketball at Longwood University while the other three other Seniors, Hasahnn Reynolds, Ian Hardy, and Nduka Ogwu are weighing their options before making a final decision on where they will continue their academic and athletic careers.

The future is bright with the Titans returning six players from their main rotation this season.  They will forward to defending their region title and making another deep playoff run next season!
