Hana Awad - Horatio Alger Scholarship Recipient

The future of business and civil leadership is brighter with at Meadowcreek High School. Class of 2020, Hana Awad, has been awarded the Horatio Alger Scholarship, which she will receive $25,000 towards college or university this Fall.

Hana Awad shed tears of joy when she received the scholarship meant for students who have faced and and have overcome great obstyacles in their young lives. She was so thankful for the scholarship that will help her for her studies into college. Hana applied for this scholarship before October 25th and was super excited to find out she was not only a finalist, though in the same day was a national recipent. Her family and classmates greeted and congratulated her during the acceptance, which brought her great joy.

Meadowcreek Counselor, Jordyn Mills, says “Hana is extremely deserving of this incredible scholarship. She has overcome so much in such a short amount of time and it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know her the past couple of years. I could not be more excited for the amazing opportunities ahead of her.”

Juniors, YOU can also be eligible for this scholarship in the future; some of the requirements applicants must meet are the following:

-Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of your graduation year with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation

-Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

-Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

-Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
