Harmony Letter

Welcome Mr. Jonathan Day To Harmony Elementary School

April 19, 2019

Greetings Harmony Parents,

I am honored to become the next principal of Harmony Elementary.  For the last twenty-five years I have been preparing for this exciting opportunity.  This afternoon I had the opportunity to meet the staff at Harmony, and I can’t wait to meet all of the students.  In the coming weeks, I will be working closely with Ms. Keskonis to ensure a smooth transition for the next school year.

I am a veteran educator who has spent my entire twenty-five years in Gwinnett County.  Sixteen of those years were spent teaching in elementary and middle schools and the past nine years I have served as the assistant principal and principal of Mulberry Elementary in the Dacula Cluster. I went to high school in New York, but graduated from Georgia State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education and Masters in Educational Leadership.

On a personal note, I have been married for twenty-two years. My wife, Malinda, is a middle school instructional coach at Dacula Middle.  My son, Harper, is a sophomore at Dacula High School and is very involved in student government.  We live in Dacula and have been thankful for the great education Harper has received in Gwinnett County Public Schools.

I loved my time at Mulberry and leaving Mulberry was a difficult decision, but I couldn’t be happier to join the team at Harmony.  I know it will be a big task to follow Ms. Keskonis, but I will work tirelessly to earn your trust.  I am extremely excited to be joining the Harmony family and the Mill Creek Cluster.  I look forward to meeting and talking with many of you soon.
