Parent Information for DLD

Greetings, Radloff Raider Parents and Guardians,

I hope that your family and you are well.  I hope that you are staying safe and healthy.

These times are challenging for many families, and our staff’s thoughts are with each of you during this time.

Because we know that education is extremely important, we want to make sure that teaching and learning continues to happen even now.   I have placed updates from my last communication in red font so that it stands out.

During the upcoming week, we will continue to engage in Digital Learning Days.  This means that your child will access their eCLASS pages to gather work and complete it.  Teachers will be available at various times throughout the day to answer questions.  Some work will require that students submit it electronically.  Other work will be submitted through paper, and it will be returned when they get back to school.

Gwinnett County Public Schools has created a way for students to get lunch each day this week.  If you need a lunch provided to your child you can get a lunch through one of the following methods:

  1. Drive by Radloff Middle School from 11:00am to 1:00pm to pick up a meal.  You should come to the bus lane.  There are signs posted out front to assist you with finding the way.
  2. On one of the middle school bus stops, wait for a bus to deliver meals.  It is important that you be with your children.  They will not give you food if your children are not with you.  You also need to be there at 11:00am and wait until the bus arrives.  If you are not there at 11:00am it is possible that you may miss the bus.

For families who do not have computers or internet, we have work packets available for you to get in one of the following ways:

  1. Drive by Radloff Middle School from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Come to the bus lane and they will give you a work packet and/or a lunch.

By Wednesday, there will also be work packets placed at four locations throughout our attendance zones. We have placed packets in the leasing offices of Vida Apartment by Arium, Estates 1700 apartments, and Ashford 6860 since we have lots of Radloff students who stay in those apartment complexes.  We also have packets placed at the following locations:

  • Ferguson Elementary school (1755 Centerview Drive Duluth, GA 30096.) You can pick packet up at the same location that you would pick up lunches from 10am to 2pm.
  • Food Depot (1250 Tech Drive, Norcross, GA 30093).  Packets will be placed at the customer service desk.

Work Packet Return Process

We are still working on a process to get the work packets return.  We will send additional details once we have finalized that process.

Where to Access Digital Assignments

You can click on the link below or have your child access their eCLASS page.  Your student has a username and password to put in to the program.  That will lead them to all of their teacher’s eCLASS pages and from there they can find the assignments that they need to complete.  Please have them look on the left side of the eCLASS page for the specific directions that they need to follow to access and complete the assignments.

  • Students need to complete five days of work for each core content (language arts, science, mathematics, social science)
  • Student need to complete work in their two Connections courses.
  • Digital Learning Day assignments will be posted by 10:30am each day.
  • Students have a way to contact teachers if they have questions.

Slowness with eCLASS

It is very likely that the eCLASS platform will experience some slowness and potential freezes this week especially since college students are back in session using the same electronic platform.  There are several districts across the country that are using the same platform and the high internet traffic will likely cause disruptions in the service.  Please be patient.

No Computer or Internet Access

The reality is some families may not have computers or internet for your students to get the work that they need.  Therefore, on Monday we are creating work packets for your students.

Student packets are available.  You can get those packets using one of the following methods:

  • Picking up from school between 11am-1pm during lunch pick up.  Pick up will occur in the bus lanes.  Please look for signage to help you locate the bus lane.

  • You can also continue to pick up packets from Radloff Middle School from 11am to 1pm

Lunch Pick-up

Even though your student is not coming to the school, Gwinnett County Public School’s food and nutrition program is making sure that your student has a meal Monday through Friday from 11am-1pm.  You can pick lunch up for any family member 18 and younger at Radloff Middle School.

  • 11am-1pm in the Radloff Middle School bus lanes.  We will deliver the meals out to you so that you do not have to enter the building.
  • We are following the guidance from the health department, and social distancing rules apply, so we apologize in advance for not extending a hand to greet you.

Lunch Delivery

If you are unable to travel to the school, we have 31 buses that are delivering lunches to the Radloff Middle school bus stops.

  • Buses will deliver lunches to the bus stops from approximately 11:00am -12:00pm.  Be there closer to the 11:00am time.

Questions/Concerns

If you have any questions and/or concerns please feel free to call the school (678-245-3400) from 8:30-4:00.  We will have personnel available and ready to answer your calls.

I thank you for your flexibility during this time of great change.

Sincerely,

Jennifer E. Johnson
