Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Night on Thursday, October 3

During this session, on Thursday, October 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m, GCPS families of students in grades K-12 will receive information about Computer Science for All, Industry-Recognized Credentials, CTAE Program Access, and Future Readiness for Students. Interpretations will be provided in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese.

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) invites GCPS families, Gwinnett County residents, students, and GCPS staff members to review and provide input on proposed instructional resources for select grades and courses in Career & Technical Education (CTAE). This year’s virtual review will begin September 30 and will run through October 31.

GCPS invites students, parents, staff, and community members to review and provide input on proposed instructional resources for select grades in Sex Education. This year’s virtual review will begin September 30 and will run through October 31.

GCPS invites the community to apply: Sex Education IRRC

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is inviting parents and community members to apply for the district’s Sex Education Instructional Resources Review Committee (IRRC), a group charged with evaluating print and digital instructional resources. Feedback from the IRRC and teacher reviews will be considered in the selection of resources to pilot in the district. This year’s Sex Education IRRC will convene on Thursday, November 7, at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, located at 437 Old Peachtree Road, NW, in Suwanee. Instructional resources will be reviewed for courses in the areas of Sex Education (grades 5-9). The deadline to submit completed applications is Sunday, October 6.

Building the bridge

from empathy to excellence

Gwinnett County Public Schools was recently interviewed by ABC National News, showcasing the Food Waste Warriors Project at Lovin ES. The project, in partnership with Green and Healthy Schools, highlights the school's innovative approach to reducing food waste while teaching students environmental responsibility. In preparation for the national spotlight, the Facilities and Operations team worked alongside Principal Kevin Payne to ensure Lovin ES looked its best. Staff refreshed the school’s garden areas, addressed any facility concerns, and prepared the building’s exterior for the cameras.

With the new school year underway, the Facilities and Operations employee advisory councils are scheduled to resume, with meetings taking place in through October. These councils include the Bus Driver Advisory Council, School Nutrition Program Advisory Council, Custodial Advisory Council, Head Custodian Consortium, Grounds Maintenance Advisory Council, Building Maintenance Advisory Council, and Fleet Maintenance Advisory Council.
