The Gwinnett County Board of Education will hold its Monthly Work Session and Business Meeting on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center (437 Old Peachtree Road NW, Suwanee, GA 30024).

The Monthly Work Session will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Executive Board Room. An Executive Session (closed) will be held following the Work Session. The Monthly Business Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. preceded by the First Public Hearing on HB581 at 6:00 p.m.

Gwinnett County Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone attending meetings of the Gwinnett County Board of Education. As part of this commitment, the district has implemented additional safety and security measures, including clear communication regarding expectations for visitors, an increase in the number of school resource officers supporting the meeting, additional staff welcoming visitors and monitoring the room, and video monitoring. Attendees will pass through a security screening checkpoint prior to entering the meeting. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

The Gwinnett County Board of Education will hold three public hearings as part of its process for opting out of House Bill 581. Community members wishing to share questions or concerns with the board are encouraged to attend.

The first hearing will be held on January 16 at 6 p.m. The second and third public hearings will take place on February 20 at 11:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. All of the public hearings are scheduled to take place in the Board Room at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Road, NW, Suwanee, GA 30024.
